The Incredibles: A
This is the first mature animated movie I've ever seen, go figure it was made by Pixar. Now I'm not saying that movies like Shrek or Finding Nemo aren't great, but this movie is something more, it transcends the usual clever and witty humor of top-notch animation and manages to pack in a whole lot more. The movies follows the lives of two superheroes: ElastiGirl (Holly Hunter) and Mr. Incredible (Craig T. Nelson) as they marry and then are forced into a sort of superhero witness protection after the commoners get the bright idea to sue for every savior attempt gone wrong. 15 years later they have 3 kids, one of them is super fast (named Dash, pun anybody?), and the other can turn invisible and create force-fields (her name is plain old Violet) and the third (Jack-Jack) can't do anything.....yet. Mr. Incredible is bored, with his life, with his kids, and with, sadly enough, his wife. He is contacted to work for a super-secret government agency on a few assignments then is suddenly, through a few great plot twists, thrown back into the position of world savior, along with his family and his best friend Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson) of course. The greatest achievement for this movie is that it not only is super witty and super intelligent but that it starts out as a stark satire and changes to a slapstick romping family comedy, and all along the way the movie practically buzzes with dizzying and addictive romantic and emotional energies. Throw in an all-star voice cast (Jason Lee as the villian? Genius!!) plus the greatest animated character ever (I won't spoil the fun, but she's tiny...) and you have the greatest animated movie ever made.
